Abseiling Adventures FAQ

How long do your abseiling adventures run for?

  • Our Kangaroo Point Sunset Abseil runs for 2 hours. Times differ through the year to give you the best twilight experience:
    • From September - March, 4:30pm to 6:30pm
    • From April - August, 3:30pm to 5:30pm
  • Our Glass House Mt Ngungun activity runs for 6.5 hours from 7:30am to 2:00pm

Why abseil with Pinnacle Sports?

Our guides hold nationally recognised qualifications (Lead/Guide Single Pitch Abseil and Lead/Guide Single Pitch Climb; or higher). Our team completes an annual vertical rescue refresher each year to ensure their skills are current. With over 20 years of experience delivering rock climbing and abseiling adventures and courses, and a reputation for high quality experiences and passionate guides, you're sure to have a fantastic day out with Team Pinnacle.

I've never abseiled before, can I still come?

Yep, we have no requirements for technical skill level, so anyone is able to participate. Our qualified guides will let you know what you need to do on the day.

Can I come by myself?

For sure, you do not need to bring a climbing partner with you. Our groups of clients are always super friendly and it’s easy to get involved even if you’re coming alone. By the end of the day you’ll be one big team!

How fit strong do I need to be?

There is no strength requirement to take part in our abseil activities. For abseil you ended to be able to walk back up to the top of the cliff.

At Kangaroo Point, an average level of fitness is required as there’s no hike to get to the cliff.

In the Glass House, we recommend a moderate level of fitness as the hike to the summit can be strenuous and you will be carrying a backpack with some gear.

I'm scared of heights, should I do this activity?

For many, going abseiling is a great way to face their fears. It makes for a safe and secure environment in which you can experience moving through height with a supportive framework of guides and friends to help you through.

What is the minimum age requirement?

  • Minimum age to abseil is 8 years old; participants under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Is there a maximum age limit?

No! If you're feeling fit, healthy and capable, we'd be thrilled to have you join us for an adventure.

Are there any height or weight restrictions?

There are no height restrictions for this activity. There are no set weight restrictions, however we do need to get you into a harness. Our maximum harness waist size is 120cm.

What do I wear?

Clothes that allow freedom of movement, enclosed shoes (with grip), long hair tied back, remove jewellery eg. rings/watches/large piercings.

What happens if it's raining? Or too hot? Or storming?? (Oh, my!)

Our activities are run in the great outdoors and will normally operate in all but exceptional circumstances If these circumstances arise your activity will be postponed and rescheduled for a later date. All decisions are made in the interest of staff and participant safety.

Unless you hear from us, assume that your activity is going ahead. You can view our full weather policy in our Activity T&Cs.
