Brisbane Bouldering - Active Parks
$6.00

An introduction to the wonders of outdoor bouldering held at the classic Toohey Forest Crag.

Any participants under the age of 16 years are required to be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity.

Challenge yourself on the natural sandstone boulders of Toohey Forest, one of Brisbane's largest and most beautiful bushland reserves. Bouldering is a fun and accessible style of rock climbing that involves climbing short routes close to the ground without ropes, using crash mats for protection and safe spotting techniques that you'll learn from our experienced guides.

Surrounded by native bushland, scenic walking trails and abundant wildlife, Toohey Forest provides the perfect outdoor playground to build confidence, improve balance and problem-solving skills, and experience the thrill of climbing in a stunning natural environment. Whether you're tackling your first climb or looking for a new challenge, bouldering is an exciting adventure for all skill levels. Your Pinnacle guide will teach you the fundamentals of bouldering outdoors and get you on some suitable problems to start your outdoor bouldering adventure.

What is belaying?

Climbing is a partner sport - one person climbs whilst the other belays. Belaying is when you are in control of the other end of the rope. You have a device which allows you to remove ‘slack’ from the rope, keeping the climber nice and tight so that they don't fall if they let go. Belaying is a simple process. All our climbing activities begin with a safety and belay induction.

What is bouldering?

Bouldering is climbing without a rope on typically lower rock formations. The climber is kept safe via a series of pads (boulder mats) that protect your fall, as well as being spotted by other participants. Spotting technique and mat placement is taught as part of our bouldering activity induction.

What do I wear?

Clothes that allow freedom of movement, enclosed shoes (with grip), long hair tied back, remove jewellery eg. rings/watches/large piercings.
